With additive mastoplasty, it’s possible to increase the size of your breasts, whether they are small or underdeveloped, but also to re-establish their volume and improve their consistency, particularly after childbirth or a significant weightloss.
Increase the volume of the breasts
In the case of underdeveloped breasts
In the case of small breasts or breasts that are slightly drooping
In the case of one breast being smaller than the other.
Bigger, more shapely breasts.
A more positive self-image.
To decide on the type of intervention, you will have a preliminary visit involving a thorough interview with the team of surgeons at Academia Day Clinic, led by Dr. Eugenio Gandolfi.
During the interview, your needs and expectations will be assessed. It is essential that your cosmetic surgeon understands your wishes deeply, to be able to best advise and direct you on the best methods, forms, and volumes most suitable for you.
At this stage, additionally, your surgeon will present you with test prostheses, which are the same as those that will be implanted, and that, placed over the breasts to be enlarged, will give you an extremely truthful idea of the final effect. Finally, the photographic documentation of a large series of operations carried out by our team can provide an additional tool for verifying obtainable results and the confirmation of your decisions.
The methods of intervention are different.
We may proceed by placing the implants under the mammary gland, or under the pectoral muscle through a small, hidden incision.
To make it almost invisible, the incision is made at the bottom of the areola, in the groove at the bottom of the breast or in the hollow of the armpit.
1. The specialist at Academia Day Clinic will examine your breasts and, together with you, evaluate the best strategy to increase the volume.
2. Incisions will be made, usually at less visible points such as in the lower fold, the area under the armpits, or the lower part of the areola.
3. Depending on the opportunity, the implant is placed under the gland tissue or under the muscle.
4.The result is bigger breasts that are toned and well-shaped. The scars are barely visible and, with time, tend to be less and less apparent.
The surgery can be performed in day hospital under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia.
The implants we use are exclusively those of the best quality, made with semi-cohesive gel that has passed all tests and is equipped with all certifications.
These prostheses provide an all-natural softness to the touch and are extremely safe because even in the case of an accidental (and highly unlikely) breakage of the casing, the thick consistency of the material will halt the spill, preventing contact with the tissues in the body.
The outer surface of the prosthesis is "wrinkled" so as to prevent encapsulation and always maintain an anatomical shape.
In the case that it is necessary to intervene on the breasts to remove any benign tumors, it is possible to both reconstruct as well as increase the volume of the breasts during the same intervention.
On the evening of surgery, you are able to return home with a bandage that will help keep the breasts in place and which will be removed after 3-5 days.
If any post-operative pain should arise (the possibility of which is absolutely normal), you will be prescribed oral analgesic therapy.
Stitches will be removed after a period ranging from 7 to 12 days.
During this time, you should not do strenuous activities or lift heavy objects.
After 4 weeks, it is usually possible to resume all normal activities, including, for example, gymnastics.
Regardless of the technique used, the surgery absolutely doesn’t influence pregnancy and lactation.
In the case of asymmetric breasts, prostheses of different volumes can be utilized or two simultaneous interventions — one which increases and one which decreases volume — can be used to obtain ideal results.
