For the first few days, complete rest is recommended. Then, you may take small walks. The stitches are taken away in part on the 6th day and the rest on the 12th day.
You must not sleep stomach down for at least 2 weeks, and do not remove the sheath for at least 4 weeks.
The total recovery takes quite a long time. The swelling, for example, disappears in 3-6 months, and the scars are less noticeable within a year. The sensitivity in the operated area is recovered, in general, after a few months.
It is a good idea to wait at least a couple of weeks before returning to work.
